Attracting Robins

A Robin isn't just for Christmas!!  They are with us all year round (in about 85% of our gardens) but we tend to notice them most in the winter as they are one of the few birds that sing in the colder months.  They also famously sing at night - tempted to do so by street lights - which means it's unlikely that it's a Nightingale you're hearing outside your bedroom window!   Easy to identify, both male and female robins look alike with their bright red breasts but males can be very territorial and aggressive and will sometimes fight to the death!

What do Robins eat?

Robins feed on a wide variety of insects and other invertebrates around our gardens but on the bird table or a Ground Tray they enjoy crumbled Suet Cake or mixes containing small pieces of peanut or suet pellets.  Mealworms - even dried ones - will also tempt them.  They will use a Window Feeder and with patience will take food - especially mealworms and suet crumbs - from the hand.
